Companions

More work that is emerging from the glaze kiln after months of making. This work is being held for an exhibition in Louisville Kentucky.

I recently started glazing work with the thought of the objects being companions.  Having the work talk to each other rather than just having the object staring back while you are looking is the goal.  I have not yet taken the step to price the work together.  I think that is the next step so the companions are not separated.  After they leave my possession it is up to the buyer to decide their fate.

Glaze Firing Results

I am finally getting some finished work out of the kiln after months of making.  These are the small petite bowls I make. They can be used for salt bowls or dipping bowls. Perfect for butter, jam or a few nuts. Patrons have also used them for jewelry, beads and other little treasures.

What's going on? (In the words of Marvin Gaye)

Hello August and where did July go?

I am taking a break this month from studio classes except for a few regulars stopping in for this or that.

Classes will resume September 13th and 14th.  Next session I will be offering the same Wednesday evening class and will be switching Wednesday morning to Thursday morning.

So mark your calendars and give me a heads up if you will be joining the group.

On another note, I have been doing much making and will now be glazing before I start having anxiety attacks from all the work piling up around me.  I can hardly wait to start posting some of the results.

This is what it looks like just before I start to glaze the hearts.
